Digital X-rays come to PCMH

Pawnee County Memorial Hospital recently installed another enhancement to their x-ray facilities. A new AMRAD x-ray room and SUMMIT digital radiography (DR) system was installed. This is an updated system using digital technology that has become the preferred choice in taking x-ray images because of reduced radiation exposure, time efficiency and the ability to enhance image quality.

So, you might ask what that means as a patient when you come to get an x-ray at the hospital. Simply put, whenever you have an x-ray taken, either in the x-ray room, or at the bedside with the updated portable x-ray unit, less radiation exposure is required to produce a better-quality image. You won't notice any dramatic differences in the x-ray process, and the equipment may not appear to be much different, but behind the scenes there are benefits.

By Ray Kappel

When he was a boy, Marty Tuttle of Lewiston crawled about 100 yards on his belly to photograph the mating rituals of Greater Prairie Chickens.

He knew early on that watching birds was a hobby for him. He got started when he was about 8-10 years old and has been watching birds now for 50 some years.

He said he is not sure about why he likes the hobby.

“I can’t really put a finger on it,” he said.

He said he is attracted by the beauty of the birds and he finds all of them interesting.
