Passed away at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn, Nebraska on November 6, 2017 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 16 days. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Corey Miller officiating. Visitation will be at the Wherry Mor t u a r y in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Bradley David Brewer

Brad Brewer died unexpectedly at his home in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 52. He was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska, grew up in Table Rock attended Table Rock Public Schools,graduating in 1983. He continued his education at the University Of Nebraska, moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1987 completing a degree in computer technology. Brad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph Brewer, Zela Brewer Petrashek, Howard and Marguerite Herrrick, and uncle Gary Herrick. He is survived by his son, Casey, step-children Bradley and Cori, and their mother Pam of Mesa, AZ; father David Brewer, mother Nancy (Wayne) Schulenberg, sister Theresa (Scott) Persigehl, nieces Lindsey (Jesse) Kuhnle, Haley (Brad) Warner, nephew Camden Persigehl; uncles Lonnie (Fran) Herrick and Dale Herrick; Wayne’s family Marc (Connie) and grandson Jayce; and other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, October 27, 2017 in Mesa, AZ.

Valjean Carpenter November 21,1931 ~ September 21, 2017

Valjean Carpenter, 85 of Bellevue, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bellevue. He was born on November 21,1931 in Humboldt, Nebraska to Leroy and Elverta (Rockemann) Carpenter. Valjean grew up on a farm close to Humboldt, Nebraska. After high school Valjean joint the USAF, January 5, 1950. His 33 years of military services was primarily spent in personnel. He retired as a Chief Master Sargent on October 31, 1982. Valjean and his wife, Alberta raised 10 children, six boys and four girls. His military service took him to 44 states and 25 foreign countries. Valjean married Alberta Patricia Sunneberg on November 21, 1951 at St. Bridget Church, rural Axtell, Kansas. He received Outstanding young men of America in 1966, he was President of Carter Lake Jaycees in 1966 and Iowa State Director 1967 (Jaycees). Valjean enjoyed coaching baseball as his children were growing up.

Arline M. Acton July 17, 1922 ~ September 19, 2017

Arline M. Acton, age 95 of Beatrice passed away on September 19, 2017 at the Homestead House in Beatrice. She was born in rural Barneston on July 17, 1922 to Julius and Mary (Hellmer) Stroemer. She was a graduate of Barneston High School. On May 24, 1944, Arline married Allen Acton in Marysville, Kansas. The two farmed near Liberty before moving to Beatrice in 1999. Arline was a huge Husker football fan and enjoyed her time with the Prairie Queen Ladies Club. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. She will be remembered for her delicious desserts and pies. Arline is survived by her twin sister, Norline Cornett; niece; Jeanne Elsasser; nephews, Robert Cornett and Gary Cornett; several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen (2009); an infant daughter; parents, Julius and Mary Stroemer; sisters, Opal Tucker, Geneva Hanners, and Nedra Hahn; and brother, DeLoss Stroemer.
