Reinhard H. Kuhlmann

Reinhard H. Kuhlmann, 97, of Pawnee City formerly of Table Rock, Nebraska was born on July 29, 1917, on a farm North of Humboldt in Nemaha County, Nebraska to Henry and Emelia (Sodman) Kuhlmann. Reinhard was baptized and confirmed at St. James (Long Branch) Lutheran Church and was raised on the family farm where he attended country schools North of Humboldt and Table Rock. On March 5, 1942, Reinhard entered into active service in the United States Army and served his country during World War II as a Tec 4 Mechanic. He was honorably discharged from the Army as Corporal on January 5, 1946 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. On March 5, 1946, Reinhard was united in marriage to Leona Grauerholz in Kensington, Kansas. To this union seven children, Deanna, Dennis, Doreen, Orlin, Marilyn, Teresa and Karen were born. The couple began their marriage living

Alvin Fritch

Alvin Fritch, 94, of Syracuse, NE, formerly of Pawnee City, NE passed away on November 15, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Home in Syracuse with his family at his side. He was  born on April 11, 1920 to Joe and Anna (Lang) Fritch in DuBois, NE. Alvin grew up in the DuBois, Table Rock, and Pawnee City area. After he was married, they moved close to Des Moines, IA. Within a short time, they returned to the Humboldt, Table Rock, and Pawnee
City area until May of 2013. At that time, they moved to Syracuse, NE to be closer to their family. On September 14, 1940, Alvin and Laura Schultz were married in Falls City, NE. To this union, a daughter, Prudy was born.

Nelva (Holthus) Beethe

Nelva Pauline (Holthus) was born April 24, 1929 to John and Frieda  (Lampe) Holthus on a farm in Todd Creek Precinct, Johnson County, Nebraska. She was baptized July 13, 1929 and confirmed November 21, 1943 at the St. John’s Lutheran (Stone) Church, rural Auburn, Nebraska. Nelva received her 8th grade education at District 37 “Long Branch” school near her home. She was united in marriage to Owen Beethe on January 5, 1950
at the St. John’s Lutheran (Stone) Church. Nelva and Owen then moved to a farm in Pawnee County. They were active members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where all 8 of their children were baptized and confirmed.
In 1962, Nelva and Owen moved to another farm in Pawnee County, across the section from St. Peter’s. This would be their home for over 30 years. Nelva was the typical farm wife of the times; she worked hard cooking,

Roy Johnson

Roy Johnson, 91, of Chula Vista, California, passed away peacefully  with his family by his side, on November 6, 2014. He was born in Deland, Florida on March 9, 1923 and was raised in Pawnee City. Roy was married to Virginia (Tracy) Johnson, also of Pawnee City, for sixty-five years and preceeded him in death on January 22, 2013. He is survived by his three children, Rex, Ross, and Linda, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services are scheduled for November 14, 2014 in Chula Vista, with burial at Miramar National Cemetary, in San Diego, on November 17, 2014

Devon Lee Hunzeker

Devon Lee Hunzeker, 16, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born February 9, 1998 in Pawnee City, Nebraska to Aaron Hunzeker and Christina Findeis. He attended Paddock Lane Elementary School in Beatrice, Nebraska through the 2nd grade before moving to Humboldt where he continued his education at Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer public school through his junior year. Devon was a very involved student and athlete at HTRS. He participated in varsity basketball, wrestling, track, and was a starting utility player for the HTRS football team. Devon loved music, playing guitar, and was a “gamer”. He was an accomplished “Guitar Hero” and “Call of Duty” player on PS3
