Spencer John Barr

Spencer John Barr was born February 2, 1987 to Skip and Lori (Frazee) Barr of Liberty, NE. Spencer went to heaven to meet Jesus on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013. Pneumonia took his life but not his dogged determination and fighting spirit. Spencer was raised on the family farm south of Liberty. He attended Southern Elementary School in Blue Springs, NE and later graduated from Southern High School in Wymore, NE with the class of 2005. Spencer was injured at the age of 9 in a car/pedestrian drunk driving tragedy in December of 1996. He suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury which left him as a paraplegic with very limited use of his arms, hands,

Robert “Bob” W. Kettelhake

Robert “Bob” W. Kettelhake, 54, of rural Steinauer, passed away Dec. 22, 2013 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, Nebraska. He was born to Wilber and Mildred (Koehler) Kettelhake on August 10, 1959 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Bob was baptized August 23, 1959 by Rev. John Heins and confirmed May 6, 1973 by Rev. Harold Stelzer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elk Creek. Bob attended Tecumseh elementary through the fifth grade, 6th through 8th grades at St. Peter’s Parochial School, and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1977. He received his mechanics degree from the University Of Nebraska School Of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska in 1979.
After graduation, Bob went to Fairfield, Nebraska and worked for John Deere and then came back to the family farm. He also did construction work for a Co-op building large grain elevators for Virginia, Manley and Pickrell.

Marjorie J. Vrtiska, 96 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Pawnee Manor, Pawnee City, Nebraska. She was born on September 30, 1917 to Henry and Myrtle (White) Steiner at rural Violet, Nebraska in Pawnee County. Marjorie lived in Pawnee County all her life. Marjorie graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1936. While in High School she played the piano and trombone in the band. She also
played the piano in several dance bands. Marjorie married Elmer W. Vrtiska on August 20th, 1937 at the Methodist parsonage in Beatrice, Nebraska. To this union 3 daughters where born, Barbara, Janet K. and Jo Ellen.

Funeral services were held 10:30  a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Loup City, NE with the Reverend Joel Plisek officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Memorials are suggested to the Sherman County

Jeff Bice

Jeff Bice of Pawnee City, NE, age 59, went home to be a challenge to the MAN upstairs on November 30, 2013, at Bryan West in Lincoln, NE. He had a very unique sense of humor with a tremendous faith in God. Jeff was born on August 28, 1954 to Harry & Lois Bice in Des Moines, Iowa. Jeff grew up in the Minburn, Iowa area and had many friends there. Jeff had driven one  type of truck or another since the day he graduated from high school
at Central Dallas in Minburn, Iowa in 1972. Jeff met Cheryl Samples in August 1981 and they were married in March 1982. Together they did much traveling in the semi and visited  almost every state. They made their homes in Iowa, Kansas & Nebraska. In July of 2007 Jeff and Cheryl moved to Pawnee City, NE. Jeff enjoyed working on the farm and helping family & friends. Jeff was an active member of the First  Christian Church in Pawnee City.

Jay D. Keeton, 64 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at his home in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He was born on May 24, 1949 to Arlie and Patricia (Hill) Keeton in Dallas, TX. Jay lived several  places through his life. He lived in Richmond, Virginia, Japan, Humboldt, and Pawnee City Jay attended Humboldt public school and Air Traffic Control School in the Navy. Jay married Linda Horner to this union four children were born, they later divorced and she passed on September 13, 2004. On December 22, 1991 he married Luann “Annie” Vogt. Jay enlisted in the Navy from1967 to 1971. He was a truck driver, for several years, worked at Den’s Country Meat, was a Air Control Man in the Navy from 1967-1971, and most recently the owner of The LittleBrown Jug.
