Terry Borcher inducted into the Nebraska 8 Man Football Hall of Fame

On June 17th during halftime of the 40th annual 8 Man All-Star Game played at Hastings College, Terry Borcher was one of 15 inaugural inductees into the Nebraska Eight Man Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Terry served as head football coach and athletic director at Table Rock and Humboldt-Table Rock- Steinauer Schools from 1972 to 2005.

Area women place in 2017 State Bowling tourney

HASTINGS - Six teams from Tecumseh and Syracuse who bowl at Harvest Bowl participated in the 2017 Nebraska State Women’s Bowling Championship Tournament at Hastings during March and April.

In Doubles, the following teams placed as follows: In Division 5, Cindy Walters, Elk Creek and Vicki Bursovsky, Table Rock placed in 14th place with a score of 896.

East falls to West in three sets at SE NE All-Star VB game

BEATRICE - Three area volleyball athletes participated in the 2017 Southeast Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Classic which was held on Friday night, June 16th.

The West squad defeated the Easat squad in three sets, 25-11, 25-13, 25-22 and then an extra set was played after.

SE NE All-Star Games set for June 16th-17th

BEATRICE - Southeast Community College would like to announce the 29th annual Southeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball games on Saturday, June 17th and the 28th annual All-Star Volleyball game on Friday, June 16th.

All games will be held at the Truman Center on the SCCBeatrice Campus.

Alan Haverkamp wins Pawnee Classic

Alan Haverkamp wins Pawnee Classic The 33rd running of the Pawnee City Classic was held on Saturday at SchillingBridge Winery and Microbrewery in spite of hot, windy conditions. Forty seven runners completed the 5k (5.1 mile) road race and there were 11 finishers in the one mile fun run. Alan Haverkamp, of Bern, Ks was the first over the finish line with a time of 21:01. He is in his 50's, so he would qualify as the Masters (over 40) winner, but we have a "no duplication" policy, and we declared him the "Open" winner. Scott Morrow, from Lincoln won the Men's Masters trophy (25:51).

Pawnee City trap team competes at State Meet

DONIPHAN, NE - The 2017 State Trap Meet was held at the NTA home grounds in Doniphan over the days of May 3rd-5th.

The Pawnee City Trap shooting team participated in the meet and their results were as follows.

Juniors: out of 100; Jacob Lytle 69; Riley Kobza 80; Madison Branek 89 (5th in junior female); Kaden Lang 57; Gavin McHenry 73; Andrew Stalder 68.

As a team they finished 58 out of 118 teams.

Weather conditions brutal at 2017 State Track Meet

OMAHA - The weather conditions for the 2017 State Track Meet this past weekend were some of the worst that area teams had to endure in recent years.

Friday, May 19th started off cold, wet and windy with morning participants battling the cold, damp conditions and by the evening session, competitors were drenched in the saturated conditions.

Saturday, May 20th was almost a repeat of the day before as competitors had to brave the cool and wet conditions once again, but made some good finishes.

Pawnee City sends thirteen to State, LHS sends three

AUBURN – Weather conditions were cloudy and windy. but very favorable for the running of the Class D-3 District Track Meet which was held at Auburn on Wednesday, May 10th.

The Pawnee City Lady Indians made the most of the nice conditions as they won the District title with a total of 112 points. The Pawnee City boys also made a stellar showing with 91 points for the District runner-up title. In all, the Indians will send 13 athletes to the State Track Meet this weekend at Omaha Burke Stadium on Friday and Saturday, May 19th-20th.

P.C.'s Mariah Willey qualified in four events for State as she won the 100 M. Hurdles, the High Jump and the Long Jump and qualified as a member of the 400 Meter relay team which also includes Lydia Gyhra, Natalie Blecha and Aeden Gyhra.

HTRS qualifies two athletes in Class C

TECUMSEH – The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Track team competed in the Class C-3 District Track Meet on Thursday, May 11th at Tecumseh.

The HTRS girls placed 6th with 21.5 points while the HTRS boys took 8th with 22 points.

The Lady Titans qualified one athlete for the State Meet as Logan Standerford placed 2nd in the girls' Shot Put.

For the boys, Logan Bredemeier tied for 2nd place in the High Jump and will also be making the trip to the State Meet this Friday and Saturday, May 19th-20th.

Pawnee City sweeps Orville Rettig Track meet

NEBRASKA CITY - The Pawnee City and Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer track teams traveled to Nebraska City for the Orville Rettig Invitational on Friday, May 5th.

Pawnee City swept the team competitions as the girls won their division with 157 points and the boys won theirs with 150.5 points. The HTRS girls finished in 4th place with 76 points and the Lewiston girls placed 6th with 36 points. The Lewiston boys were runner-up with 96 points and HTRS placed 5th with 66 points.
