First half shooting woes hamper LHS Lady Tigers

LEWISTON - A dismal first half of shooting combined with a tenacious defense by the Sterling Lady Jets led to the Lewiston Lady Tigers' downfall on Friday night, January 31st. Sterling pressured the Lady Tigers into a total over thirty turnovers and shut them out of the 1st quarter of play by a 26-0 count.

Pawnee City Indians top Johnson-Brock 54-37

JOHNSON - The Pawnee City Indians held Johnson-Brock to single digit scoring in two of the four quarters they played on Friday, January 31st as the Indians came home with a 54-37 victory. P.C. led 14-13 after the first quarter and 25-21 at the half and outscored their hosts 16-6 in the 3rd quarter and 13-10 in the final quarter.

Johnson County teacher arrested for sexual assault

An investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol, in conjunct i o n w i t h t h e J o h n - son County S h e r i f f ’ s Office and the Johnson County Attorney has led to the arrest of a teacher at J o h n s o n County Cent r a l ( J C C )
High School. On Monday, January 27, information was provided to investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office regarding allegations of a sexual relationship between a teacher and a male
student at the school.

HTRS almost pulls off upset over JCC

TECUMSEH - The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Titans had a tough road stretch, but almost pulled off their second win of the week on Thursday, January 23rd. The Titans defeated Pawnee City on their home court earlier in the week, and then traveled to Johnson County Central on Thursday night.

HTRS/P.C. wrestlers compete at Horton, Louisville

HORTON, KS. LOUISVILLE - The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer/ Pawnee City Titan wrestling team competed at the Horton Duals on Thursday, January 23rd and then the Louisville Invitational on Saturday, January 25th.
The Titans won over Hiawatha/ Horton at the duals 54-18, but also lost to Falls City 18-48. At the Louisville Invitational, they finished in 10th place with 62 points. Individual results are as follows.

P.C. does complete turnaround

BEATRICE - Coming off a very low-scoring game against Johnson- Brock in the opening round of the Class B Mudecas, the Pawnee City Lady Indians rallied back with a huge victory over Parkview Christian in the consolation bracket. P.C. vs. Johnson-Brock The #4 seeded Lady Indians opened the tournament on Monday, January 13th against the #5 seeded Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles, but couldn't get anything going offensively in the game.

Pawnee City holds off B-D-S for Class B championship

BEATRICE - The Pawnee City Indians made the most of their #3 seed at the Class B Mudecas Basketball Tournament last week as they knocked off top-seeded Bruning-Davenport-Shickley in the finals to claim the 2014 Class
B Championship. Pawnee City vs. Meridian The Indians began their championship run on Tuesday, January 14th with a 52-25 victory over the #6 seeded Meridian Mustangs

HTRS makes late charge against Jets

HUMBOLDT - Even though they trailed 6-17 at the end of the 1st quarter and 13-23 at the half, the HTRS Titans made a late run against the visiting Sterling Jets  on Friday, January 10th. HTRS outscored the Jets 9-7 and 14-13 in the final two quarters, but it wasn't enough to pull out the win. Sterling prevailed by a 43-36 count. Sterling Head Coach Matt Markowski  commented, "After our first quarter we had a hard time finding the basket

HTRS Lady Titans stifled by Sterling

HUMBOLDT - "Stifling" was a good word to describe the Sterling Lady Jets' defensive pressure as the HTRS Lady Titans hosted them on Friday night, January 10th. Sterling hit double figures in each of the four quarters of the
game and held HTRS' offense to very small numbers. After one quarter of play Sterling led 15-3 and then carried a 29-8 margin into halftime. They held the Lady Titans to just 6 points in the second half and scored 25 of their own en route to the 54-14 win.

Pawnee City Indians beat Conestoga, 64-30

PAWNEE CITY - The Pawnee City boys basketball team pounded an almost helpless Conestoga team, 64-30 in Pawnee City Saturday afternoon. This raises the Indians' record to 5-3 for the season. Scott Borcher passed to  Chase Grizzle breaking under the basket and he scored to get the home team rolling. And roll they did, building a 22-2 advantage by the end of the first quarter. They led 35-10 at the half and were never threatened.
