Pawnee City girls take HTRS to OT in Class B consolation game

BEATRICE - The Pawnee City Lady Indians were the #4 seed heading into the Class B Division of the Mudecas Tournament last week and placed 4th after an exciting overtime game against HTRS. Pawnee City vs. JCC The Lady Indians took on the #5 seeded Johnson County Central Lady Thunderbirds on Monday, January 8th. P.C. led 9-8 after the 1st period and were ahead 17-15 at the half.

They outscored JCC 13-2 in the 3rd period before claiming the ten-point victory, 34-24. Eve Beethe led the Lady Indians with 12 points and had 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. Reagan deKoning scored 7 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. Madison Branek chipped in 5 points with 6 rebounds and 8 steals.

OT scoring boosts HTRS Lady Titans over Pawnee City

BEATRICE - The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Lady Titans were the #3 seed of the Class B girls' Mudecas Tournament and came home with 3rd place. HTRS vs. Lewiston The Lady Titans faced the #6 seeded Lewiston Lady Tigers in the first round of the Tournament on Monday, January 8th. HTRS went on a huge 11-2 scoring run in the 1st period a 10-3 run in the 2nd quarter for a 21-5 halftime lead. The Lady Titans went on to outscore LHS 17-2 in the 3rd period and 14-4 in the final quarter for the 52-11 win.

Pawnee City claims 4th place at Mudecas

BEATRICE - The Pawnee City Indians were the #3 seed heading into the 2018 Mudecas Basketball Tournament and placed 4th overall. Pawnee City vs. Sterling On Tuesday night, January 9th, the Indians faced the #6 seeded Sterling Jets in the first round. Pawnee City jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the 1st quarter which spurred them on to a 42-35 victory.

The halftime score was 23-16 in P.C.'s favor, but the Jets made another run in the 3rd period to cut it to 31-33. P.C. closed out the 4th quarter on a 9-4 run for the win. Andrew Davis recorded a double double in the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds and had 3 steals, 1 assist and 1 block. Mason Lierz scored 10 points with two treys and had 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 assist. Andre Fortunato chipped in 5 points with 7 rebounds and 1 steal while Kodenn Koester scored 3 points with one trey and had 3 assists

Momentum shifts on Lady Titans

HUMBOLDT - The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Lady Titans had an early lead over the Sterling Lady Jets on Friday, January 5th, but couldn't hold on to that winning momentum in the second half.

HTRS led 18-10 after the 1st quarter of play and were still ahead 18-13 in the 2nd quarter when the Lady Jets used some HTRS misses to their advantage and closed the gap to 17-18.

Sterling freethrows take down Titans

HUMBOLDT - The game between the Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Titans and the Sterling Jets was a game of scoring sprees, but it came down to fourth quarter freethrows to decide the victor.

Sterling raced out to a 14-3 lead in the 1st period as HTRS' only scores came from a Conner Bredemeier rebound and putback and a Hunter Sherman freethrow in the early going. Sherman scored again at the end of the period, but Sterling held a 17-7 lead heading into the 2nd period.

HTRS Lady Titans use 1st quarter to take 3rd place

HUMBOLDT - The HTRS Lady Titans and the Pawnee City Lady Indians tookt he floor in the HTRS Holiday Tournament 3rd place game on Saturday, December 30th. HTRS made the most damage in the 1st quarter as they outscored P.C. 14-4 in that period and went on to take a 26-19 halftime lead.

 

The Lady Titans were ahead 29- 23 in the 3rd quarter when P.C. launched a comeback behind the scoring of Becca Martin and Reagan deKoning to make it 28-29. HTRS led 32-30 at the end of the period. After deKoning scored a back door bucket to open the 4th period, HTRS went on an 8-0 run with Bella Vasco hitting a shot and Camille Svoboda adding a freethrow. Amber Blank knocked down a trey and then Betty Worthey scored to put HTRS up 40-32. Then, it was P.C.'s turn to rally as Eve Beethe and Martin hit some freethrows and Beethe made a tough bucket underneath. Austin Branch connected on a freethrow of her own and suddenly it was 38-40.

HTRS pulls off upset of tournament

HUMBOLDT - The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Titans used their home court advantage on Friday night, December 29th as they handed the Johnson-Brock Eagles just their second loss of the season. HTRS faced Johnson-Brock in the opening round of the HTRS Holiday Tournament and used a strong 17-6 first quarter of scoring to help them knock off the Eagles.

 

The Titans were ahead 29-21 at the half and then held on for the 52-49 victory in the second half. Hunter Hain paced the Titans with 19 points and had 7 rebounds and 1 steal. Conner Bredemeier and Hunter Sherman each scored 9 points. Bredemeier also had 6 rebounds while Sherman pulled in 14

Baylee Whitton was named Queen and Holden Christen was named King at the recent Lewiston Consolidated Homecoming. Lewiston basketball season alternates with football for Homecoming each year

Lady Titans struggle against fast-paced Fairbury

HUMBOLDT - The Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer Titans went up against a very fast-paced Fairbury Lady Jeffs team on Thursday night, December 21st. Both teams had turnovers and missed shots in the opening minutes of the game, but Fairbury hit two treys and then a shot from the wing to take an early 8-0 lead. HTRS didn't get on the board until the 5:45 mark when Camille Svoboda drove the baseline for a pull-up jumper.
