Rev. Zenas Turman and his wife Catherine came to Table Rock in 1871 after he was placed on the “superannuated, i.e., worn out” list of Methodist ministers. He left behind a life of hardship and adventure as a circuit rider in Nebraska Territory, a minister carrying the Word of God from place to place in the new Territory of Nebraska.
