Statewide temporary open fire ban lifted

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has lifted the temporary statewide open fire ban at state park and wildlife management areas.The decision follows recent rain across portions of the state, where additional precipitation is anticipated this weekend.

10 Years Ago – November 6, 2014Byford Metzger was recently honored for 70 years as a member of the American Legion. The 89-year-old Pawnee City man is also a member of the VFW. He is looking forward to another Veterans Day celebration Tuesday, Nov. 11.

DED Announces $10 Million of Awards through Rural Community Recovery Program

October 31, 2024 (LINCOLN, NEB.) – The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $10 million to 11 recipients through the Rural Community Recovery Program (RCRP). The Nebraska Legislature authorized this one-time program through LB 1412 in 2023.

Creative District Discussed at Council Meeting

The Pawnee City City Council met Monday, October 28. The meeting began with a lease agreement with Todd Albers. The city uses the groundwater on a section of land but it otherwise goes unused, so they lease the land to Albers to graze his cattle.The city leases the land to Albers for $93.
