The horse thieves of Table Rock

SUMMARY. Last week we began the epic Table Rock story that developed after two thieves, Paul Clifton and Joseph Catron, stole a fine team of horses from Andrew Fellers. Fellers lived southeast of town. The Rock Country School, District 32, is on one edge of his homestead.

Jim Riley bargains for his life

One of the regular stopping places for the horse thieves’ that Shuey told about was at Jim Riley’s. Riley lived in a log house just across the river from Table Rock.

“I pretty near always put a seat belt on,” said Donna Thiemann of Pawnee City. She is very thankful that she took the few extra seconds to buckle up on Wednesday, November 11. Donna was only five blocks from home when she fell asleep at the wheel.

How the Table Rock Senior Center Came to Be

The Senior Center at 402 Luzerne Street is in a historic building in the Table Rock Public Square Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is in a complex built by the Lincoln Hotel Company in 1916 for a reported cost of $10,000 to $50,000.
