Where is the Governor and what is he doing? We probably shouldn’t be surprised that stealth candidate Jim Pillen who refused to debate and was elected Governor anyway hasn’t been releasing information about his public schedule. No schedules, nor press releases, little or no comment about issues.

    Lyle Droge of Pawnee turns 91 in another six weeks and says he’s getting to a spot in life where he has few peers in memory of the area. “I’m getting to where no one can doubt me. I can make up my own stories,” he said with a laugh.

The Pawnee City Chamber’s Business of the Month of April is Elaine’s Hair Studio, owned by chamber member Elaine Mullin. Elaine’s Hair Studio has its current location at 638 G Street.
The Table Rock Depot in 1876, the year that C. W. Chambers became the depot agent. He was 23 years old. Chambers is the gent labeled as #3. #1 is Ed Ryan, who was a section chief, and #2 is Nick Goodenkauf. No one else is identified. This photograph is displayed in the Table Rock Train Museum. You can get a tour of that and other museums by calling Suzanne Ellis, 816-853-2442.

The One-Legged Woman Along in the summer of ’76 one day when the south-bound freight with Conductor Filson pulled in, they brought the caboose down to the station and unloaded a one-legged woman on crutches, and it was quite a job.
