I discovered several great Nebraska artists at the Plein Air painting event in Auburn last fall. One of those was Priscilla Portenier. She won Best of Show and I wanted to revisit her and where she’s at. It is no secret that I am a big supporter of arts in Nebraska and in our area.

Evelyn Pettinger turns 103 on January 30. She was born Evelyn Mach and grew up in rural Du Bois. She went to country school, and when it came time for high school, she rode her pony to town. Her parents were big supporters of the new ZCBJ Lodge hall. Yes, it was new when Evelyn was young.

How I got my eagle picture by Ray Kappel. I headed to the city pond last Thursday snapped a photo and headed down 65 like I usually do. Didn’t see anything and turned around. I headed back and then I saw him. I expected him to bolt so I parked away and took some. Then I moved closer took some more.

Frankie Lawrence Vrbicky was born on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Faith Regional Health Center in Norfolk, Neb. to Mark and Bonnie Vrbicky of Wayne, Neb. He weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. and was 22” long. Big brother Ben, 5, welcomed him home. Grandparents are Paul and Carol Sisco of Burchard, Neb.
