Table Rock Historical Marker Arrives

The long-awaited historical marker for Table Rock arrived this month. It had been ordered and paid for by the Table Rock Historical Society over a year ago.The process of getting a marker has been a long journey. Even being granted the right to have a marker had not been a sure thing.

With plats filed by the Table Rock Town Company and a postmaster appointed in 1856, the town of Table Rock came into existence. The population boomed the following year with the migration of families from New York and Pennsylvania, sent by the Nebraska Settlement Company.

CRETE, Neb. (December 22, 2025) - A total of 372 Doane University students made the university’s Fall 2025 Dean’s List. To make the Dean’s List, undergraduate students enrolled on the university’s Crete campus must earn a grade point average of 3.

This is just a little story about a production on the stage of the Table Rock Opera House in 1916. It was “For the Love of Mike!” That phrase was pretty new at the time. It had been popularized by the “Mutt & Jeff” comic strip. It was, and is, roughly the equivalent of “Oh, for Pete’s sake!
