The Nebraska prison system has more than a plumbing problem. There are also problems with parole, personnel and programs that are just as serious as leaking pipes. I don’t want to gloss over the deferred maintenance problems with the 152-yearold penitentiary that has served the state well.

Packing the Court

This fall, the United States Supreme Court has been receiving quite a bit of attention. With ongoing litigation ranging from the Texas law limiting when abortions may be performed, to vaccine mandates, to second amendment rights, a spotlight is currently focused on the court.

Pawnee County Farm Service Agency Encourages Farmers, Ranchers to Vote in County Committee Election

Pawnee City, Nebraska, November 8, 2021 – Pawnee County Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Brenda Fields announced the 2021 FSA Pawnee County Committee election began on Nov. 1, when ballots were mailed to eligible voters.

The Pawnee County Veteran’s Memorial Foundation has added two granite tablets to the south side of the Veteran’s Memorial to allow for more names to be added to the monument. Byford Schmit was the construction coordinator.

Eleven students

Eleven students from Pawnee City School attended the Tri-County Junior High Honor Choir this past Thursday, Nov. 4. Joining about 130 other students from Southeast Nebraska, they were directed by Michael Morris who has been a music educator for over 35 years.

Fall is a favorite time of year for a lot of people. A couple reasons are the cooler temperatures and the pretty fall colors. We are fortunate to live in an area that has lots of pretty trees.
