Union Bank and Trust in Pawnee City has a new personal banker, Kelly Huls. She lives in Sterling with her husband, Steve. They have five children, Trevor Paige (husband Evan); Joshua, Sidney and Macie. They have a grandson, Jacob.

There has been damage to alfalfa fields from fall armyworms in southeast Nebraska. Reports of fields in Gage and Otoe Counties were reported last month, but more recently fields in Jefferson and Saline counties have reported damage.

Taking Personal Responsibility

We’ve come a long way over the last year. Nebraska has managed the coronavirus pandemic without lockdowns, without statewide mandates, and without vaccine passports. We have the third-lowest fatality rate from COVID-19 in the country. And we’ve fully vaccinated 87.5% of our 65+ population.

Faesser reports on his progress from crash

Vic Faesser called last week to give an update on his condition. He was injured in a collision with a car while on his bike about a month ago. He has since been in Bryan West. He has had surgery on his left leg and is schedule to have skin grafts.

Health Alert Issued for Three Lakes

Lincoln – The state has issued a health alert for Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB), also known as toxic blue-green algae, at Calamus Reservoir in Garfield County, Iron Horse Trail Lake (WMA) in Pawnee County and Kirkman’s Cove Lake in Richardson County.

1970 Cuda fulfilled a dream for Bill Cary

His wife, Betty, was looking through classified ads in the Omaha World Herald back in 1995. The ad said for sale AAR 1970 Cuda. Bill and his son Zach were up to get it the next day. They knew what they had found, a rarity. The Cuda was Plymouth’s entry in the Trans Am racing circuit.

Flu Shots

As the crops and leaves start to turn colors and the farmers start to prepare for the upcoming harvest, we realize it is time to think about flu shots. In the month of October, we will be offering walk-in flu shots on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m in the Rural Health Clinic.

Pawnee County Fair Parade results

This is the winning Youth Group Float in the Pawnee County Fair Parade, the Pawnee City FFA. St. Peter’s Lutheran Church was the Grand Champion float in the Pawnee County Fair Parade.
