10 Years Ago – February 11 2016Dreaming of the warm weather months already? Maybe you’re in an office and thinking of Tahiti or the Virgin Islands. I’m in the same office. So, I thought, since I can’t go to warm weather maybe I can bring it to me with a little thinking about the Pawnee County Fair.

Otto Wopata

In February 1895, a baby was born to Bohemian immigrants Rudolph and Marie Stankova Wopata. This baby, who they named Otto, who would grow to be a most interesting person.Otto was the youngest of six children, born 20 years after the first. He grew up in Table Rock.

Tyler House Moved Miles

A house from rural Du Bois moved to another zip code last week. Again. It had been moved about 20 years ago from east of Pawnee City to a site near Iron Horse Lake. It eventually came to be owned by Mike and Heidi Musil.
