We are in the Season of Lent, a time of expectant waiting. Unlike Advent, when we merrily decorate the nursey/stable while we wait for a birth; in Lent we prepare for a funeral.

We continue our celebration of Women’s History Month by looking at the changing role of women dating back to the 1900s. We used a history essay on the internet, edited for space, and mixed in comments from the Pawnee City City Clerks.

Table Rock Consignment Sale draws a crowd

The Table Rock Volunteer Fire Department held their annual consignment sale last Saturday. For the first time in memory, last year’s sale had been cancelled, and as a result there was a healthy volume of sale items. Fortunately, the weather cooperated.

From Timothy Kluck: On March 17, Pawnee City had our first Quiz Bowl competition. It was the Pioneer Conference Quiz Bowl, held at Lewiston. We brought two teams; both did a good job and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we didn't score high enough to qualify for the tournament at the end of the day.

SchillingBridge Adult Easter Egg Hunt April 3

The Pawnee City Vineyard Easter Egg Hunt at SchillingBridge Winery and Microbrewery will take place Saturday, April 3 at 3 p.m. It is for those 21 and over.

PCHS fifth, Reyana Tegtmeier state champion

Pawnee City High School’s speech team took fifth place in the Class D1 state competition at Kearney Saturday. Senior Reyana Tegtmeier was state champion in Informative Speaking. “A top-5 team finish is amazing. Such a feat. Kids were proud. We had heartbreaks, too.

Her husband was the mayor of Las Vegas and even has his own Wikipedia entry. Her son-in-law was a Nevada senator for whom a building at the University of Nevada was named and still stands. She must have been hostess at many a party.
