Fire Department deals with grass fires this time of year

It is grass fire season and it will last until things start to green up in April. This is a tough time for the fire departments around the area. They can get up to around 20 fires a season to battle. The fires are difficult to deal with. Many times, they must get help.

This winter has been long! It is nice to look forward to spring weather and our gardens and landscapes. We can’t get out there quite yet, but we can begin to plan. Lawncare Spring is when we do a lot of lawncare. Overseeding should be done from mid-April through early May.

Twenty-four students and HTRS business teacher, Joan Dreier, participated in the virtual Peru State College Business Contest February 3-5, 2021. These students competed with students from twenty schools from Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.
