Croup May Be Serious

The serious form of croup is caused by a bacterial infection of the trachael area, or voice box. It is different from the common viral croup in many respects. The bacterial infection may come on very quickly and is a much greater emergency than the viral form.

Season to remember

“Silver Bells” was playing on the radio. I immediately thought of my mother. That was her least favorite Christmas song because it was her mother’s favorite. It wasn’t an act of rebellion on Mom’s part, but because the song was Gram’s favorite, she started singing it in July and quit in June.

A challenging year for county roads

“This year had been challenging for everyone. The virus has been tough to work through. Mostly, it was business as usual here at the road department. Our operators are able to stay more or less isolated in their machines most of the time. That has helped with keeping them at work and healthy.

Mitten Tree, Angel Tree help many this year

Deputy City Clerk Kellie Wiers reported at the Monday night City Council meeting that the Mitten Tree and the Angel Tree were a big success this season. The Mitten Tree received 79 pairs of mittens and 67 hats donated by residents to the school children of Pawnee City.

Matt Bloss tops in state yield contest

Matt Bloss of Pawnee City won the Nebraska title in the National Sorghum Producers yield contest. He planted 85P44 and had a yield of 136.03 per acre.
