The Museum Mural of Table Rock

It was August of 1979, 41 years ago. JoAnne Kalina decided to paint a mural on the side of the old newspaper office, which had been a museum for just three years at the time. It was one of a growing array of museums in Table Rock, which proudly called itself the Museum Town.

City will demolish house to make way for new fire hall

The Pawnee City City Crew will demolish the house at 1332 F to make way for a new fire hall. That was decided on a 4-0 vote at Monday Night’s City Council meeting. The City had let bids on the project, but no one entered a bid.

2020 harvest is a good year for corn

A good year for corn not so much for beans is the report on the 2020 harvest. Milo was above average. Jeff Wehrbein, manager at Burchard’s Farmer’s Coop said the harvest was about 95 percent done as of last Thursday. The weather could still play a factor of when farmers finish.

Library’s Halloween

It’s Trunk or Treat at the Pawnee City Public Library Halloween night, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be treat places at the parking lot at the library. On the porch with the library staff, with the Sheriff’s Office, and with the Extension Office. You are to walk up to the displays.

The other day I saw a advertisement for a t-shirt that had the saying “check your boobs, mine tried to kill me”. That rang too close to home. It was just before Christmas 1996, I had found a hard round lump in my left breast.
