Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) have been reported in soybean eelds across southeast Nebraska.These eelds have patches of soybeans that appear brown and wilted.The disease actually begins much earlier in the season. When soybeans are planted in cool, wet soils, SDS has a chance to infect the roots.

Pawnee County Little Learners Group Working Hard to Keep Child Care Doors Open

When Josie Friedly of DuBois learned of Derek and Amanda Niss’s intention to close Sweet Second Home Child Care at the end of this year, she immediately set to work to keep the doors open. She and the six other women have successfully set up a nonprofit corporation to fund the daycare facility.

New Business in Pawnee City an Unique Combination

A new coffee shop/bar amalgamation has opened in Pawnee City. The establishment, called 'Old Guys Brew', is owned by Chuck Rathbun who also owns Willard’s Tavern in Steinauer.Rathbun said the idea came six or seven months ago when one of his colleagues decided she wanted to open a coffee shop.
