Pawnee City seems destined to escape an epidemic of small pox, in spite o f the fact that a case developed in the high school week before last and was not diagnosed as small pox for several days. Immediately after the case had been diagnosed as small pox the patient was quarantined and pupils of the public schools were vaccinated. New cases develop from 10 days to two weeks after exposure.
