August 29, 1927 ~ March 16, 2026 Avis Irene (Marshal) Collar was born to Ralph and Mayme (Miner) Marshall on August 29, 1927 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She passed away in her home on March 16, 2026. She attended country school than graduates from Pawnee High High School in 1944.
Avis was a life-long Pawnee City resident. She started her career as a bookkeeper at the telephone company in 1945 and retired June 30, 1984. Then she worked at the City office from 1984 til 1997.
She was married to Robert (Bob) Collar on May 18, 1948. They were married 45 years until Bob died on June 9, 1993. To this union one daughter was born, Judy Kay.
Avis and Bob in were active in many community organizations during their 45 years of marriage and enjoyed serving others together.
She was an active church member, VFWAuxiliary member and American Legion Auxiliary member for 75 years.
Her kindness and compassion for others showed in taking people to appointments and preparing food for meals and events for VFW. To many she was a good listener, encourager, and confident. We cherish the memories and are blessed to have shred life with her.
Avis enjoyed golfing, walks and of course Huskers sportsfootball, basketball and Volleyball.
Avis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, sister Ellen Herr Pugh and nephew Charles Synder.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Carstens (Michael), three grandchildren, Matthew (Christina), Sara and Andrea (Gary), nine great grandchildren, Levi, Caleb, Noah, Caleb, Aiden, Cheyenne, Calie, Marisa and Gavin, and two great-great grandchildren, also nieces, Karen and Sharon, nephews, Kevin, John, Frank and Gary and many friends.
Funeral Services were at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Faith Baptist Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Officiating Pastor Connor Barr and Mike Carstens. Visitation was on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., family greeted friends from 5-7 p.m., at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
