Kenneth Arthur Kroll 97 of Pawnee City, Nebraska formerly of Steinauer, Nebraska passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at his home. He was born on November 10, 1924 to Edward J. And Victoria (Hupka) Kroll in Sterling, Nebraska.
As a child, he boarded at St Mary’s Catholic grade school during the week, but went home on the weekends and helped his dad farm. After completing the 8th grade, he farmed with his dad. On September 6, 1944 he married Loyola Conradt in Steinauer, Nebraska to this union 7 children were born 5 boys and 2 girls. Kenneth and Loyola farmed on various farmlands around St. Marys until the winter of 1958. All 7 children were born during this time. They then moved to Steinauer, NE and became business owners of Kroll’s Grocery and Locker Store. Besides working in the grocery store, he also worked at Campbell Soup and had a job turning in water samples to the state. Kenneth’s life was filled with sacrifice for his family and lots of hard work. After all 7 children completed high school and moved away from home, the grocery store was sold. Kenneth then farmed for John Steinauer (Recently he indicated he enjoyed this job the best). Kenneth also worked for St Anthony’s Church as custodian and shoveled snow and mowed the church yard, cemetery, hall and other town yards. After turning the age of 90 he retired. Kenneth’s health and mobility were excellent until the last several years.
Kenneth married Carolee (Kerl) Howard on August 25, 2007, Carolee had 5 children from a prior marriage.
Kenneth was a member of St Anthony’s Catholic Church, Steinauer, NE Offices/Memberships: Acolyte, and former member of the Steinauer Town Board. He was unable to enlist into the Military due to a left eye injury.
Kenneth loved to watch Nebraska football and volleyball games, shoot blue rock with a 410 shotgun, worked outside in the yard and garden and tinkering with his old tractor. Always read the Sunday newspaper from front to back. Kenneth was extremely devoted to his Catholic faith.
Survivors: Wife Carolee Kroll of Pawnee City, NE, and Kenneth’s 7 children: Ronald Kroll of Vero Beach, FL, David & wife Marge Kroll of Omaha, Dianna & husband Pat Wagner of Lincoln, John Kroll of Omaha, James Kroll of Omaha, Luetta & husband Irwin Schneider of Columbia, MO, Edward & wife Tricia Sparks-Kroll of Omaha, NE, 17 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild and 33 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren. Siblings: Marcella Weber of Eden Prairie, MN; sister-in-law: Mary Kroll of Houston, MO; and Carolee’s family: 5 children, 16 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

Services 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Steinauer, Nebraska. Officiating Father Michael Christensen. Rosary on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
