Leora Ann (Dorsch) Henry was born on October 24, 1937, in Tecumseh, NE to Fred and Eliza (Mommens) Dorsch. She entered into eternal life on April 14, 2025, at the age of 87 at her home in La Vista, NE, surrounded by her family.
She grew up with 8 brothers and sisters and loved to tell stories about their childhood. One time Fred and Eliza went into town and left the “big kids” at home. They forgot something and came back, and it was a good thing too, as the kids were having a weenie roast in the attic! Or the time when Eliza made Christmas cookies, and they got to have cookies for breakfast.
She graduated from Table October 24, 1937 ~ April 14, 2025
Rock High School in 1954. She married Keith Robert Henry on January 9, 1958. They were married 50 years. To this union was born four children: Robert, Jed, Lori, and Loretta. Leora’s faith was very much a part of her. She was an active member at Zion Lutheran in Pawnee City: active in LWML, AAL (now Thrivent), choir, Concordia Guild, Bible study, taught Sunday School, Confirmation class, and VBS. She retired from Campbell Soup in 1995.
Her favorite holiday was Easter. There are 7 weeks in the Easter season and Leora celebrated by boiling 7 dozen eggs and enlisting the help of the grandkids to dye them. Then for the next 7 weeks we would have an Easter Egg hunt! She loved to play pitch and pinochle. Many Friday and Saturday nights would find the family gathered to play, sometimes all night long!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; daughter Lori; parents, Fred and Eliza; brothers: Freddie, Lorin, Arlend, and Duane; sister Ella Marie.
She is survived by sons, Robert (Dorothy), Jed; daughter Loretta (Lucas) Buike. Grandchildren Jessica (Jason) Kerst, Rachelle (significant other DJ) Gerdes, Amanda (Chris) Tharp, Emily (special friend Otto) Henry, Jenica Henry, Joshua Henry, Jolene Henry, Lizabeth Buike, Joshua Buike, Rose Henry, Grace Henry, and Aaron Buike. Great-grandchildren Clyde Loveless and Graycen Loveless.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Zion Lutheran in Pawnee City on June 22nd at 2 PM
