Gary Frank de Koning, 73, of Anchorage Alaska, passed away on February 15, 2022.
He was born March 3, 1948, to Henry and Ellen (Sejkora) de Koning in Pawnee City, Nebraska.
Gary grew up on the family farm in Nebraska where he worked hard helping with the livestock and crops.
Gary attended country school, Salem District 60, through the 8th grade. He graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1966. In high school he enjoyed FFA, Legion Baseball, and running the mile and twomile races in track.
He attended CE School of Commerce and the University of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.
In June 1969 he headed to Alaska with his brother Allen. He fell in love with Alaska and made it his home.
He had several jobs including working on the Alaska pipeline.
He was a mail carrier for the Anchorage Post Office for 29 years.
A highlight for Gary was visiting the Holy Land and being baptized in the Jordan River. He loved the Lord with all his heart.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ellen de Koning, sister Coleen Tanner, and nephew Aaron Tanner.
Gary is survived by his brothers Allen (Janice) de Koning of Dawson, Nebraska, Terry (Linda) de Koning of Burchard, Nebraska, sisters Nancy (Rich) Burget of Burchard, Nebraska, Kathy (Don) Fritch of Fairbury, Nebraska, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
There will be no graveside service instead a Celebration of Life will be held at the Burchard Community Building Thursday March 17th at 1:30 p.m.
