Mary Elizabeth (Felt) Beethe, 85 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. Mary was born on March 8,1936 in Salina, Kansas to Van and Mary Elizabeth (Beth Cleaver) Felt.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina, Kansas, She has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pawnee City, since 1965.

She married Dalen Leroy Beethe on February 22, 1962, at St. Jon’s Lutheran Church, Salina, Kansas. To this union two children were born: Diana Louise and Scott Leroy.

Mary graduated from Salina High School in1954 and from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1957. She attended graduated school at SLIM (School of Library and Information Management) at Emporia State University. She taught English and Mathematics and served as district librarian at schools in Kansas and Nebraska. She retired from full time teaching in 1998 and from substitute teaching in 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dalen, parents, brother-in-law Marlen Beethe, Paul Hestermann, and Ray Doeden, sister-in-law Maryellen Doeden, son-in-law Terry Poskochil, nephews Brad Hestermann, Craig Peters, and Mitchell Doeden, and great nephew Robert Butler, Jr.

Mary is survived by her children Diana Poskochil, Bennet, and Scott Beethe, Pawnee City, grandchildren, Jessie and Carly Poskochil, Bennet, Kesha Beethe (Marshall Klontz), Auburn, WA, and Dustin Beethe, Tecumseh, sisters-in-law Mardell Hestermann, Sterling, and Sheila (Royce) Peters, Elk Creek, and Lois Beethe, Elk Creek, nieces, Cindy (Troy) Walters, Elk Creek, and Julie (Chris) Beekman, Lincoln, and nephews Brian (Sandra) Hestermann, Lincoln, Kevin (Lynne) Hestermann, Lincoln, Curtis (Cathie) Peters, Elk Creek, and Matthew (Suzie) Doeden, Unadilla, twelve great nieces and nephews, and three great great nephews.

Celebration of Life on February 13, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Officiating Reverend Tim Llewellyn. Visitation on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Service will be livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary/Wherry Monument Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.
