One of my favorite books is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It includes many moral messages for young people. A very emotional part comes when a dying youth tells his friend, “Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.” This is a reference to Robert Frost’s poem Nothing Gold Can Stay. The way it is used in The Outsiders reminds us to hold on to innocence and goodness.
