Above: When the Table Rock Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1899, plays were held in the opera house to raise money for it. In this 1941 picture by Arvid Blecha you see the skylight of the opera house with the original water tower of 1922 beyond. On the cross brace of the water tower, difficult to see but there, the siren and the old fire bell. The siren was later moved to the old fire hall, and the bell placed at ground level in its present location.

At the June 2024 meeting of Table Rock’s village board, a citizen, quite politely, asked if the town would discontinue the Noon whistle. And the 1 pm whistle. But the 7 am and 6 pm whistles are OK.
