House Demolition Through City Program

Since the program's inception in 2020, Pawnee City's demolition reimbursement program has paid out $100,295 to reimburse 27 demolition projects.The program, which is part of the city's beautification initiative, reimburses property owners up to $4,000 for the demolition of blighted buildings.

The SENCA Pawnee County Transit rates will have their first increase in 17 years. Kay Wissman, a representative for SENCA, said the change was due to budget cuts higher up. There will be a 50 cent increase for in town transit and a $1 increase for out of town transit.

First Hearing in Suit Against Pawnee County

The first hearing in the lawsuit against Pawnee County was held at the Nemaha County courthouse on May 27. It was heard by Judge Julie Smith. Pawnee County Sheriff Braden Lang filed a lawsuit against the county on April 22 of this year.

Pawnee City Fire Chief Dave Glynn said it was mostly smoke, not really a fire at the Pawnee Village Monday morning. The call came in before 6 a.m. It was apartment 114 where a couple lived. Both Tex Finn and his wife, Vivian, got out safely.
