“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.” -Mark Twain. Those words remind me that patriotism isn’t blind loyalty, it’s active love. It’s the courage to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s uncomfortable.

There are many ways we can show patriotism and support our country we can show patriotism by saying the pledge of allegiance everyday and the national anthem. We can also honor the American flag, the military, and veterans. We also can learn about the history from the past.

After weeks of debate in Washington, the House and Senate finally came together to pass a bipartisan funding package that reopens the federal government. President Trump signed it into law Wednesday night, marking the end of the longest shutdown in American history.
