Clyde Volz, 85, of Phoenix, Arizona peacefully passed away October 17, 2024. He was the husband of Nancy Kelly Volz. They were married 63 wonderful years.
Clyde was born in Friend, Nebraska, the first son of Bennett Volz and Susanna Mueller Volz. He attended country school near Friend, then attended and graduated from Friend High School. Following high school, he attended, played football and graduated from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.
After Clyde and Nancy married, they moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska where Clyde taught high school and coached football, basketball, and track. After five years in Pawnee City, they moved to Pender, Nebraska for a year as Clyde continued his teaching and coaching career. In 1967, they moved to Phoenix where Clyde then taught U.S. History and coached football and track & field at Sunnyslope and Greenway High Schools. Clyde started and ran the infamous Great Southwest Track & Field Classic for 26 years in Arizona, earning him multiple awards / recognitions for being one of the top track & field coaches / officials in state history. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf with his friends, spending time working / planting in the family backyard, and truly loved spending lots of time with his family, especially his two beloved grandsons, Mc-Cade and Cannen.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his children Kelli and Todd, his son-in-law Brian, Todd’s life partner Stephanie, and his grandsons McCade and Cannen. His sister Sandy, and his two brothers Don and Ben. His life will be celebrated privately at his home with his family who love him dearly.
