Donald “Donnie” Inglis

August 2, 1946 ~ February 7, 2025 Donald “Donnie” Leon Inglis 78 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on February 7, 2025 at his home. He was born on August 2, 1946 to John Dale and Alma Geraldine (Ramer) Inglis on the family farm at St. Deroin/Barada Nebraska.

He attended school at Shubert, Nebraska until his sophomore year at which time he moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska and lived with his aunt and uncle Jim & Ethelda Inglis. He graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1964. In December of 1964 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was assigned to the USS Hancock an aircraft carrier and was a diesel mechanic. He was later chosen to be the Engineer on the Captains GIG.

Donnie and Lyanna Walker were married on November 30, 1968 at the First Christian Church in Pawnee City, to this union three daughters were born. He was baptized March 30, 1986.

After discharge from the Navy, he got a job with Equity Tax Service and appraised homes and commercial buildings. When the company folded him and his wife moved back to Pawnee City in 1971. He was offered a job at Williams Chevrolet where he did front end alignments, sold tires and went to various farms to repair farm equipment. After the Chevy dealership closed, he was hired by the City of Pawnee City was Field Foreman for many years until his retirement in 2012.

He was a member of the Pawnee City VFW, Charter member of Pawnee County Jaycees. He was once voted outstanding Jaycee of the year.

Donnie liked hunting, fishing, working on small motors, gardening, and raising small herds of cattle for sale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry, sister Nancy, grandson Ethyn.

He is survived by his wife Lyanna of Pawnee City, NE, daughters, Stacie (Mike) Crutchfield, Rebecca “Becky”, Carrie (John) Edwards, grandchildren, Kaitlin “Katie”, Sara, Emmalie, Sophia, Grace, stepgrandchildren, Kurtis, Faith (Bradean), Leigh Ann all in the Kansas City Metro area, step grandson, Lucas, sisters, Cathy (Robert), Debra (Tracy), Dana (Terry), brother, Danny, sister-in-law Sandy, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Christian Church/First Presbyterian Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska, Connor Barr officiating. Visitation on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Inurnment at a later date. Military honors provided by Nebraska Navy Honor Guard, American Legion Post #168 Pawnee City, and VFW Dalton McHugh Post #5289 of Pawnee City.
