Glenn Wayne Routon, 71, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026. He was born on September 1, 1954, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Shirley “Lester” Routon and Florence Yvonne Brown.
Glenn attended Springer High School and later received his Diesel Mechanic Diploma from Southern Oklahoma Vocational Tech College. Throughout his life, Glenn worked hard and took great pride in every job he held. His careers included diesel mechanic, over-the-road truck driver, co-owner of R & S Construction alongside Norm and Ruby Shields, loader operator with Constructors, and in his later years, hauling grain for local farmers.
Glenn enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He loved fishing, trucking, tinkering with motors, and watching old country western movies. Above all else, Glenn cherished spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his second mother, Ruby Shields; siblings Debbie (Mike) Boyd, Larry (Kathy) Twyford, Lisa Lewis, Butch (Diane) Shields, Julie September 1, 1954 ~ May 25, 2026
(Larry) Anderson, and Jody (Dennis) Poskochil; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved very much.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Lester Routon; his mother, Florence Brown; his second father, Norman Shields; brothers Jack Twyford, Bobby Twyford, and Rick Shields; sister Karen Twyford; greatnephew Anthony Domingus; and his dear friend, Patricia Van Winkle.
Memorials may be given to the family’s choice.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
