Marcella L. Wert, age 96, of Waconia passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Carver Ridge Senior Living.
Memorial Service to be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Johnson Funeral Home (141 E 1st St) in Waconia with Rev. Bryan Stecker as officiant. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment in the Pawnee City Cemetery in Nebraska.
Marcella LaFon Ude was born November 4, 1927 in Beatrice, NE, the daughter of Carl and Leona (Coleman) Ude. She graduated high school and on December 26, 1946, Marcella was united in marriage to William Wert Jr. in Pawnee City, NE. They were blessed with 72 years of marriage and two sons Marcella grew up in Pawnee City, Nebraska. It was at Pawnee High School where she met William, the love of her life. After marriage, the couple relocated to various locations with the United States Air Force. In 1978, they settled in Waconia, MN. Later on, Marcella and William enjoyed winters in Texas.
Marcella worked as a bookkeeper in several nursing homes while raising her family. She delighted in providing a loving home and cooking delicious meals and famous pies. In her free time, Marcella loved to tend to her garden, read, and complete puzzles. She relished time with friends playing cards and going bowling. Marcella also loved camping and loving on her beloved dogs.
She will forever be remembered for her reserved and caring spirit and will be dearly missed.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband William; parents Carl and Leona Ude; father- in-law and mother-in-law William Sr. and Millie Wert; sister Phyllis Ude; brother-inlaw and sister-in-law Willard and Carol Thiemann; nephew Larry Thiemann.
Marcella is survived by her loving family: sons Michael (Sheri) Wert of La Crescent, Steven (Lynn) Wert of Waconia; grandchildren Stephen (Kara) Wert, Gregory (Jaclynn) Wert, Steven Wert; 11 greatgrandchildren; niece Marge Thiemann; other relatives and friends.
