July 9th, 1997 – December 13, 2023

Robert “Bobby” Randall Smith was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska to Russell Smith and Lisa (Jarrett) Smith, on July 9th, 1997. Bobby was the fifth in a long line of Robert Smiths in the family. He grew up on the farm west of Pawnee City with his big brother, Austin. This was just the beginning of a life full of friendship and shenanigans. Bobby’s parents divorced when he was young. When he was 7 years old, Bobby’s dad started dating Nanette and Bobby met the mom who would love and support him for the rest of his life. Shortly after, Bobby was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes which came with lots of challenges for him and his family.

He attended Pawnee City Schools from 2002 until 2015. Bobby obtained his GED in 2016. After schooling he worked various jobs around the county. He most enjoyed jobs that put him in a tractor seat. He always loved to operate equipment and was good at it.

On February 10, 2016, his first son, Carson, was born. Bobby loved showing him how to run equipment and playing video games with him. Bobby met his wife, Rebecca, on August 28, 2020. The couple was married on February 25, 2021, in a private ceremony at the Faith Baptist Church in Pawnee City, and an open ceremony on April 24, 2021. On May 5, 2021, Bobby adopted Becky’s daughter, Esmae. To this union two more children were born, Robert Wayne on December 26, 2021, and Jynsen Rae on June 14, 2023.

Bobby enjoyed taking drives on the backroads, playing Xbox (maybe just a little too much), spending time with his family and friends, and shooting pool. He liked to shop online for pickups and tractors (that he knew he wouldn’t get the okay to buy), working on vehicles and tractors, but his favorite hobby was teaching their kids how to drive tractors and taking them to tractor pulls.

He passed away unexpectedly on December 13, 2023. He will be greatly missed by many.

Bobby is survived by his wife Rebecca Smith, children Carson, Esmae, Robert Wayne, and Jynsen Smith; parents Russ and Nanette Smith of Pawnee City, and Lisa Miller of Ashland, NE; siblings Austin (Julia) Smith of Pawnee City, NE, Corey Hatfield of Pawnee City, NE, Tanner (Dani) Hatfield of Elkhorn, NE, Brock (Saige) Hatfield of Lawrence, KS, and Raina (Lucas) Barloon of Pawnee City, NE.
