Life was pretty quiet in Pawnee City in the 50’s. The town hired a night watch whose main job was to rattle doors of the businesses and look for chimney fires.
I’m not sure how much authority he had but the older boys more teased him than anything else. The county sherif would take over if there was something more serious but I have no memory of that.
