The following are ongoing cases in the Pawnee County Court. The Pawnee Republican will report on them as they develop. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Pawnee County Court was held February 20 in the Pawnee County Courthouse. Judge Richard Smith presided.

Color Guard is BACK!

On February 11, 2025, Pawnee City welcomes the 2025 Color Guard team at a high school boys varsity basketball game during halftime. Pawnee City hasn’t had flags in the band for the past 14 years and hasn’t had a color guard team perform at a game in 20 years.

The HTRS High School FFA team led by Mrs. Maren De-Jonge and Ms. Megan Verbka recently attended a Career Development Event (C.D.E) in Beatrice, NE.They took nine different teams with two that qualified for state.

Family Roots at DeJonge Fresh Farms

Maren DeJonge from Humboldt, Nebraska, started her small business, DeJonge Fresh Farm, in 2023, where she sold fresh hand-picked tulips as she had always wanted to have a flower business of some kind.By 2024, she had added pumpkins, mums, bedding plants, and Christmas wreaths.
