How big was that pumpkin? The winning Giant Pumpkin in the Harvest Bash contest weighed 1,104 pounds. Don Young of Des Moines, Iowa, brought the prize winner and he outdid everyone by nearly 300 pounds. Young has traveled all over the country with his Giant Pumpkins.

A Table Rock cemetery story

On my way home last Wednesday, I drove by the local cemetery, as I sometimes do just because, well, because I can. I find our town cemetery very beautiful, majestic and peaceful. (It is so nice to be home again, after a near 45 year hiatus, I find joy in the little things in life.

Local Schools receive grant funding

Funds support college visits for 8th graders (Lincoln, Neb.) Education-Quest Foundation has awarded 78 Nebraska schools with 8th-Grade Campus Visit Grants to help students prepare for college.

Book of Ghost Stories Coming From Local Author

“Ghost Stories from ATeensy Town,” a collection of short stories written by Sharla Sitzman of Table Rock, is expected to be available just before Halloween. The cover art is by her son, Carmen Cerra of Ames, Iowa.
