Water, water, everywhere in Table Rock

When Table Rock was just a young town in 1858, devastating flooding wiped out crops and the standing water left brought terrible illness. The Big Nemaha River and even Taylor Branch periodically flooded and wreaked havoc.The 1870s saw especially bad floods.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Women have a one in eight chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).On average, 310,720 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the United States; approximately 1,770 of those are Nebraska women.

Pawnee City Board of Education Candidates

There are four individuals running for three open positions on Board of Education for Pawnee City Public Schools. Jason Vetrovsky and Joseph Vlcek are the incumbents with Mark Sunneberg and Hanna Brumbaugh running against them.

City Health Board Lists Ten Properties As Nuisances

The Pawnee City City Council met on Tuesday, October 15. The meeting began with a report from Pawnee County Sheriff Braden Lang about nuisance properties in the city. Sheriff Lang said there are 10 properties on the nuisance list from the Health Board.

Annual Halloween Party to be Held at ZCBJ Hall on Saturday

Brother-sister duo Elaine Mullin and Roy Mullin are ready for the annual Halloween party at the ZCBJ Hall in Du Bois on October 26 from 6pm-9pm. This event has been a 20 year tradition in Pawnee County and is widely attended by children in the area.

Alphia Hosts Pawnee City Eight Graders for Manufacturing Month

On Wednesday, October 16, the Pawnee City Chamber of Commerce attended a Manufacturing Month event at the Alphia plant in Pawnee City. The event began with a tour of the plant. Chamber members were not only shown the manufacturing process but also the sanitation efforts made by the plant.
