From our employee: Thursday, April 28, 2022 I was able to visit with 51 students and Staff at Pawnee City Elementary School. Preschool, Kindergarten, and First grade. I spent about 20 minutes in each room and shared a short story, coloring pages, and a small gift from the bank for each student.

Burchard Road Update

Pawnee County Roads Superintendent comments on the Burchard Lake Road Project: The Project has a June 16, 2022 Letting Date. The project consists of a 2” mill and fill with patching. Estimated Construction Date of this Fall. The Cost estimate is around $524,000 for the County Road section.

Burger Feed

The American Legion and Auxiliary Hamburger night at the Veterans Post Home in Pawnee City will take place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. June 6. The meal will include hamburger, potato salad, baked beans, coffee, tea, lemonade and water. Donation of $10.

Ret. Maj. Gen. Charles “Jim” Barr was chatting with people as he came across the Pawnee City Cemetery when he noticed a flag on the ground. It was a flag of a deceased veteran tossed from its spot by the windy day. He scooped it up and began looking for its home and he found it.

Mayberry’s famous artist in Sheldon Art show in Beatrice

A famous artist born near Mayberry in 1899 is part of the statewide exhibition Sheldon Museum of Art is putting on around the state. I caught the show at the Beatrice Library where it will be until June 19. His name was Dwight Kirsch and he left a legacy before his death in 1981.
