Proscenium. That’s what you call the stage opening, and there is usually a decorative frame around it to frame the stage. And a curtain that fills the opening is called a proscenium curtain. At the centuryold ZCBJ Hall outside Du Bois, the proscenium is framed with ornate wood.

“The sawmill and burner are a huge part of the Edwards family history and watching something like the famous burner, the landmark of Table Rock, come down erases the history of my family. Even though the sawmill was no longer owned by my family, seeing the burner come down saddens me.

Damon and Melissa O’Brine, Marysville, are the new owners of The Border Bar & Grill, Summerfield. Although the couple is currently in Marysville, they plan to move closer to Summerfield. They purchased the business from Scott Frerking, In December but didn’t take over until January.

Pawnee City Robotics advances to the state competition. Nine students are working to learn skills and solve a real-world problem with moving goods. These students have explored numerous goods that are transported and have settled on trying to make the process of moving a prefabricated home better.

Kristi Robison to retire after 34 years teaching

After 34 years of teaching, 25 being in Pawnee City, Kristi Robison has decided to retire from her job as vocal music teacher. Kristi moved to Pawnee City in 1997 with her husband Adrian and daughter Karli and stepson A.J to fill the vocal music teacher position and coach volleyball.

The Pawnee City FFA is busy gearing up for the busy part of our year. This is National FFA Week, with different activities planned for the FFA members at school. Monday is “Drive Your Tractor to School Day.” - See Story on Page 10.

Pawnee City Public Library has received the Children’s Book Project grant award from The Pilcrow Foundation. The Pilcrow Foundation’s mission is to provide new, quality, children’s books to rural public libraries across the United States.
