Harvest at halfway point for corn

The harvest season in Pawnee County is about half done with corn and now getting started on soybeans. “We’re the same as done with our milo having just our Pioneer plot to cut out yet. The milo was exceptionally good, the corn also is much better than what we expected.

REMEMBERING CIVIL WAR VETERAN CHARLES MOE

In the Table Rock Cemetery is the small tombstone of Charles Moe. Charles Moe was born in 1839 and was 21 when the Civil War began. Next to him are two of his six children, Linnie, who died in 1880 at the age of 6 months, and Vernon, who died in 1912 at the age of 28.

The Blue Stem Band put on an afternoon show well worth waiting for. It was the first program sponsored by the Pawnee County Arts Council in over a year and the audience enjoyed good music and a few surprises. Johnson Winemiller introduced the members of the band as he was introducing their numbers.

I reached Duck Creek Recreation Area by sunup last Wednesday. It was my first experience of painting outdoors with a group of artists. The event was the Auburn Strokes for Plein Air Paint Out put on by the Auburn Arts and Events people.

2011-10 Years Ago The Pawnee City Library was the topic of discussion in six of the agenda items handled by the Pawnee City Council on Monday, September 12. Probably the biggest item among the group was Resolution #18 which resolved to sell the Carnegie Library building property at public auction.
