Kathy's Beauty Nook Now Open 3 Days a Week

Kathy's Beauty Nook in Pawnee City is expanding its hours beginning May 4, 2021. Kathy Mertes of Table Rock has been working in the shop on the north side of the square one day a week since about December 2017.

City Council gives pay raises to staff

The City Council gave pay raises to staff at its Monday night meeting. Clerk/treasurer Tammy Curtis was raised to $25.34 an hour and Foreman Spencer Cumley was raised to $24.15 an hour. Those were 5 percent raises. Assistant Clerk Kellie Wiers had her salary raised 7 percent to $21 an hour.

PC athletic boosters plan fundraisers

The athletic boosters are busy coming up with ideas for fundraisers to support athletes at Pawnee city schools in football, volleyball, basketball, track, cross country, wrestling, and golf. Athletic Boosters raise funds to help supplement school funding for these programs.

Blecha graduates

Southeast Community College in Nebraska has released the names of students who graduated with degrees, diplomas or certificates following the 2021 Spring semester on the Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford campuses.

Nider graduates

Savannah Nider, of Pawnee City, is a member of Washburn University’s spring 2021 graduating class. Nider graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science in Health Services Administration. Nearly 700 students graduated with an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree.

Correction

In last weeks edition of the Republican, the accident reports stated a 2013 Ford F-150 rear ended a 1991 Chevy S-10. Further reports indicated that the Chevy S-10 driven by Tyson L. Crosby rear ended the F-150 driven by Susan Pope.

Treat Strokes Early

Everyone knows that when you get chest pain you could be having a heart attack and should go to the ER. However, when having a stroke, or a “brain attack,” many people still do not feel an urgency to seek medical treatment.
