World Elder Awareness Day June 15

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is June 15. The goal of WEAAD is promotion of a better understanding of the abuse older people can be subject to. It is hard to imagine that anyone would deliberately want to harm an elderly person, but unfortunately, elder abuse is a widespread problem.

Dr. Jackson receives 2021 Koefoot Award

On June 2, Pawnee’s Richard Jackson, MD, was recognized by the UNMC Department of Family Medicine as the 2021 recipient of the Marion D. and Theodore H. Koefoot, Jr., MD, Outstanding Preceptor in Rural Family Medicine Award.

LYONS, NEBRASKA – Cover crops are a conservation practice with wide ranging benefits, from improving soil health to protecting water quality. Many farmers who planted fall cover crops are now eligible for a discount on their crop insurance premium, thanks to a new program announced June 1.

More than 10,500 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the spring semester 2021 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.

You would think a person could get rested up on long weekend, but somehow that never happens. I enjoyed the long weekend, but I ended up more tired than I do after a regular weekend. Saturday night, we had our first bonfire of the season.
