It’s Deer Season at Den’s Country Meats

On November 17, I stopped by Den’s, which has won so many trophies for its meats that you’d think they’d be bringing the walls down. Proprietor Den Schaardt was busy grinding deer sausage. Rolling racks, each with 400 pounds of packed sausage, were being rolled into the smoker.

Pawnee City 2025 Christmas Festival

The 2025 Christmas Festival will be held on Thursday, December 4th, and all businesses are encouraged to stay open until 7:00 PM that evening. We are hoping this will be an eventful day and will start off a profitable holiday season for our Pawnee City businesses.

Pawnee City Blood Drive

The Pawnee City Blood Drive, which is put on by Red Cross, will be coming to town on Thursday, December 4th from 12pm to 6pm at the Methodist Poteet Hall. There is still several slots available for returning and new donors and every bit counts!

Hunters Helping the Hungry Program

It is illegal to buy or sell deer meat in Nebraska. Period. You can buy or sell the hide, hair, hooves, bones, or antlers of any deer that has been taken legally, but not the meat.
