Dear Mrs. Baldwin, Your writing in the Pawnee Republican was exciting. I’m half a generation ahead of you but seems little changed during the nine years from my graduation in 1951 to your 1960 graduation. I think we were doing the same things in the late 1940’s and early 50’s that your peers did.

Snow Fun

Snow finally came and made us accept the season of winter. I was perfectly content with the autumn weather, but when I was substitute teaching pre-school I learned “you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.” Good words to live by even when you are long past the age of pre-school.

A bloodmobile thank

The corona virus certainly has effected us all here in Pawnee County. We are so fortunate to be allowed to use the Poteet Hall, in spite of the increased cases in our area. Such a nice facility. Tell any Methodist members “Thank you” when you see them!

Gold Frankincense & Myrrh The first Christmas gifts were gold, frankincense, and myrrh presented to the Christ Child by the Magi as recorded in Matthew’s Gospel 2:1-12. In Biblical times frankincense and myrrh were as costly as gold.

Christmas Traditions From the Albers Family

Joyce VanHome We always have a real tree. Many years we ventured out to a tree farm to find the perfect specimen and cut it down. It reminds me of my childhood and going with Dad out to the pasture to cut down a cedar tree. We bake cookies and make candy together with family.

It began with singing carols in the car, always!!! I’m not sure if there was any specific day mom began the carols, but we all sang along, whatever she Christmas Eve I remember us always celebrating Christmas Eve. Gramma Roberts joined us as often as she could.

Dear Santa, I want a SpiderMan bike, a Miles Morales car with Miles Morales in it, a Peter Parker venom car with Peter Parker and Venom in it. Also I want a Spider Man costume with stick gloves so I can stick to walls. It is not for Halloween. Also I would like a Miles Morales box of toys.
