Pawnee City School’s Homecoming Week Sept. 14-18

The Pawnee City High School Student Council has decided to move Homecoming one week forward to the week of September 14-18 in hopes that it will better ensure it can happen. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a number of things have been changed this year.

Ray Kappel/Republican SGT Dustin Brethouwer, United States Army Reserve came back from his second tour in Iraq and surprised his kids Colton a kindergartner and Taylee a first grader Monday afternoon at the Lewiston Consolidated School. Dustin’s wife is Shawna.

Area crops have rough two weeks

Producer Don Bloss says the crops in the area look like they’ve been through a very tough two weeks. “The heat and dry winds have made the crops mature much faster than they should have.

This bed bug detector is a beagle

Kaleb from K9 Bed Bug Detectors out of Lincoln holds his bed bug detector, a beagle named Ruby. She is highly trained to sniff out bed bugs. When she finds them, she just sits. The company was in town last Friday at the Pawnee Village for a routine inspection.

Harol Lloyd birthplace gets makeover

The birthplace home of Harold Lloyd in Burchard received a new paint job and other minor repairs after almost 20 years since the initial restoration. Pawnee County Promotional Network members Shirley Malone (left) and Esther Tegtmeier (right) are by the new sign installed by Lynn Curtis.
