Intern does good work for Pawnee County

Well, this summer has been one for the books. With as much uncertainty and unpredictability that has been thrown our way, we’ve still been managing to make progress forward. This summer, Pawnee County was selected to be a part of the University of Nebraska’s Community Fellowship Program.

2010-10 Years Ago The 4th Annual Eric Klepper Poker Run was a huge success. It was one of the biggest turnouts for this event. They order 300 t-shirts for the people who registered between 9 a.m. and noon and ran out of t-shirts before 11 a.m.

The Mask

Several months ago health officials asked us to wear a mask Some gladly accepted then there were those balked at the task. The reason for the mask was to stop the spread of the COVID virus Some argued it will make no difference what’s the big fuss.

Pawnee City girls sweep Friend triangula

FRIEND - The Pawnee City Lady Indians opened their 2020 volleyball season at the Friend Triangular on Thursday, August 27th and claimed back to back wins over their hosts and the Lewiston Lady Tigers. Pawnee City dispatched their hosts, the Friend Lady Bulldogs in two sets, 25-13, 25-6.

Ina (Clema) Spier turned 106 yrs. old on August 31st. She was born in 1914 to Joe & Anna Clema. When asked how she lived so long, she just shrugs and says “I’m just a farm girl”. When she was a young girl, she went to Chatawa School, SW of Pawnee City, through the 8th gr.

Palmtag campaign says it’s gaining momentum

Legislative District 1 candidate Janet Palmtag says her campaign has gained great momentum. “We are working hard to educate the district on why life and business experience is so important for solving the serious problems our state and communities face.

Lewiston Consolidated off to smooth start

Principal Juli Smith reports that Lewiston Consolidated School had a smooth start to this school year of new rules and guidelines. Lewiston started on Aug. 13. “We had a very smooth start to school. Students and staff seem eager to be back and to get into a routine,” she said.
