Remembering the 2015 fire, five years later

On Sept. 20, 2015 fire broke out in the laundromat and spread to other buildings around it. Several were damaged. Firemen came from around the area to help the Pawnee City Fire Department in a brave battle against what could have been the destruction of most of downtown.

Remembering DuBois kids on the last Rock Island train ride

On Jan. 25, 1967 around 50 school kids from DuBois took a train ride many of them will never forget. It was the last train ride to DuBois of the Rock Island line that ran from Horton to Beatrice. Lynne Roland was in the second grade then.

July 2, 1963 The day of the big DuBois fire

Anna Lang was fixing lunch at the farm and husband Art was in the field when their daughter Ardis called from DuBois. Anna remembers her words clearly, “Mom, dad, come quick! DuBois is on fire!” Everybody in the area came running when fire broke out in DuBois, July 2, 1963.

Union Bank and Trust donates to benefit SENCA
